How fees work

What you pay depends on the visit and the drive. Each answer is here in plain words, and Ani goes through yours before your first visit.

  • If you pay yourself

Satchel is a self-pay practice: you pay for each visit when it happens, and we tell you the fee before you book. We do not bill Medicare or other plans. If cost is a barrier, ask about reduced-fee openings when you call.

    • The length of the visit

    • A first visit or a follow-up

    • A travel fee beyond Bellevue, which we tell you before you book

  • Receipts for reimbursement

After each visit we send you a detailed receipt, called a superbill, that your plan may reimburse in part. Some plans cover care from a provider outside their network and some do not. Your plan decides, so ask it before you count on a refund.

  • An estimate in advance

Before your first visit we give you a written estimate: what we expect each visit to cost and what it includes. This is your right under federal law, called a Good Faith Estimate, and you can ask for one at any time. If your final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it.

  • Checking your benefits

We do not bill a plan, so there are no benefits for us to check. If you plan to send our receipt to your plan, call it before your first visit and ask what it reimburses. Our message form asks only for your name, phone and email.

  • What the first visit includes

About an hour at your home with Ani Sarkis, a physical therapist. She listens, watches you move, explains what she finds in plain words, agrees on goals with you and explains the risks and your choices. How many visits you need is not decided on day one.

Questions about paying

Do you take Medicare or my plan?

We do not bill Medicare or other plans. You pay Satchel directly, and you get a written estimate before your first visit and a detailed receipt after each one.

What does the travel fee depend on?

On how far Ani drives to reach you. Towns closest to Bellevue have the shortest drives. We tell you the amount before you book, and it is in your written estimate.

Are there reduced-fee openings?

Ask when you call. Ani keeps a few reduced-fee openings, and she would rather you ask than skip care.
