Your first visit, at home

From a phone call to a plan, in six stops

This is how the first visit goes, in the order it happens.

  1. 01

Step 1: You call, or book online

Start with a free 15-minute phone call. Ani asks what you want to get back to and tells you plainly whether home visits suit you. It is a call about fit, nothing more.

  2. 02

Step 2: You get an estimate in writing

Before the first visit, you get a written estimate: what Ani expects each visit to cost and what it includes. A travel fee, if there is one, is in it.

  3. 03

Step 3: You pick a time

Choose a day and an hour that suit your week, at home. Early evenings and Saturday mornings are open.

  4. 04

Step 4: Ani arrives with her satchel

She texts when she is on her way. She brings a folding table, bands, light weights and a balance pad, and she leaves your floors and furniture as she found them.

  5. 05

Step 5: She looks at your own rooms

She watches how you stand, walk, reach and climb where you live: your stairs, your chair, your kitchen counter. She explains what she finds in plain words.

  6. 06

Step 6: You leave with a plan

You agree on goals together and get a short list to do between visits. A detailed receipt follows, and your next visit is booked if you want one.

What comes in the bag

You do not need any equipment

Ani brings what the visit needs, and shows you what you can use from your own home.

  • A folding table

Set up in a living room or a spare room, and put away before she goes.

  • Bands and light weights

For strength and movement work you can repeat on your own.

  • A balance pad

For practicing steadiness with a hand nearby.

  • A written plan

Your exercise list, printed and clear, left where you will see it.

  • Clean linens and wipes

Everything that touches you or your furniture is clean and her own.

  • A mat for the floor

So your rugs and floors stay as they are.

Who it is for

For people whose week is already full

Satchel is for adults with jobs, children and long to-do lists, and for people who are recovering and would rather not manage a car ride and a waiting room. You do not need to know what is wrong before you call.

This care is for you if

  • You work from home or on a tight schedule, and a clinic visit means rearranging your day

  • You had surgery and your surgeon wants you moving again

  • Stairs, rugs or a hard chair make your home harder than it used to be

  • A family member wants to learn how to help

Ani started Satchel for people who cannot easily get to a clinic, and for people who would rather not. She explains each exercise, watches you do it and tells you plainly when something belongs with a physician.

Questions

Before you book

Do I need a referral?

In Nebraska, you can start without a referral. Your plan may still ask for one, and so may your surgeon, so tell us who is involved and we will help you sort it out.

Do you take Medicare or my plan?

We do not bill Medicare or other plans. You pay Satchel directly, and you get a written estimate before your first visit and a detailed receipt after each one.

How long is a visit, and who treats me?

Your first visit is about an hour. Ani Sarkis, a physical therapist, treats you at every visit, and nobody else comes to your door.

What should I expect at home?

Ani needs a chair, a few feet of clear floor and a clear path to any stairs you use. She brings everything else. Family and pets are welcome.

How many visits will I need?

That depends on what Ani finds, what you want to get back to and how your body responds. You talk it through at the first visit and again as you go.
